Do Your Part Initiative was founded by Matthew Bota in 2021. Observing the extreme levels of poverty and inequality affecting fellow community members in Mzuzu, Matthew knew something needed to change.

On his birthday, rather than receiving a gift, Matthew asked for his friends to make a donation of food or clothing to some of the women and children incarcerated within Mzuzu prison. This was with the aim to support their rehabilitation, and give them an opportunity to succeed as healthy, contributing members of society.

​

This act of generosity blossomed, and, as more and more of Matthew's friends became inspired and involved in giving to the community, Do Your Part Initiative was born.

Now, Matthew, his friends, and collaborators across Malawi are coming together to identify those most in need, build campaigns, and make an impact. Their programmes have spanned supporting those experiencing hardship, disability or vulnerability across every strata in society.
